Not even open a month yet …..!

I cannot believe The Kitchen hasn’t been open a month yet and we have sailed (on relatively calm waters) through Mothers’ Day and a busy Easter Weekend and we are totally over the moon with the feedback.

Most people have totally loved the new look and new menu.  Whenever you make changes, we always know that some will love it and there are the odd ones that won’t!

We have taken on board constructive comments – our pews were a bit hard to sit on – so we have shipped in loads more sheepskins for a softer seat!

Another comment was that our menus were a little puritanical, just listing ingredients rather than how things are cooked.  We have added a little more detail and guest feedback is that they now sound more appealing.

One great hit is our flowerpot bread – and the chefs are loving kneading every morning, very therapeutic!  And our chocolate orange, which was very popular over the Easter Weekend.

One delightful customer called it a ‘Farrow and Balls Up’, as Anthony would say – some people are not really our customers and if people don’t like it, that is fine with us – there are plenty of other restaurants to choose from!

Other than from chatting to guests, the most wonderful feedback has come from our Opentable online booking site, and now considered by the industry to be far more accurate than the dreaded trip advisor as these are posted by real foodies.

Sublime food!

We were lucky to be at The Kitchen on Good Friday and were therefore able to order the special five course Fish Taster menu. Oh WOW! Sublime flavours, innovative combinations and an all round culinary delight! Superb!

A facelift since we were last here – we went for a mothers’ day lunch. A very good looking menu really focuses on the locally sourced ingredients- delicate flavours and nicely presented. A good mix between scrumptious filling plates (I shared the cassoulet with mum – great flavours and huge portion!) and more refined dishes. Can’t speak for the wine as I was driving but they stock Cotswold gin which is good enough for me! Service was knowledgeable and attentive. We loved the inn as it was but it is definitely a foodie treat to go to the Kitchen. Only criticism from our party would be more cushions for the benches and smaller spoons for some of the puds – oh and kids menu was great and she (5yo) was made most welcome.
